Caffè Moak S.p.A. started as a small shop founded by Giovanni Spadola in Modica, Sicily in 1967. The chosen company name is an anagram of the word moka, but also inspired by the ancient Arab name of the founder?s hometown Modica. Nowadays, Moak is carried forward with the same passion by Giovanni Spadola?s children Alessandro (CEO) and Annalisa (CMO), who turned the local company of excellence into an established brand and leading business group in the coffee roasting and distributing industry with a global presence in over 50 countries. Top quality products and sustainability are at the core of the company?s philosophy: selection of the best single origins grown in respect of the environment and fair working conditions, single roasting process, and a technologically advanced in-house laboratory, which controls the entire production cycle. Since technological innovation has always gone hand in hand with cultural development, the ?Moak Cultura? project inaugurated in 2000 launched Caffè Letterario Moak, followed by the photographic contest Fuori Fuoco, bringing together emerging artists and distinguished representatives of the world of literature and fine art photography. These two contests attracted strong support and play a basic role for Caffè Moak, as they?re regarded as a catalyst for social relations and socio-historical-cultural integration: coffee as an element that brings together and forms a solid collective identity, where ?food? and ?taste? are synonyms of recollection and ritual, cultural exchange and heritage of meanings obtained thanks to a high-end product combined with innovative development.
